Coach

Kiera Caveny-Cox

In my family, participation in sports was held to the same level and expectation as success in academics. I was encouraged to always be involved in some sport but allowed to experience many different sports to find the ones that best suited my interests.
Sports I've participated in:

- Figure skating
- Gymnastics
- All-Star cheerleading
- Volleyball
- Beach volleyball
- Lacrosse

One of my biggest athletic successes and something that ignited my passion for coaching was being elected the team captain of my high school lacrosse team.
I have experienced the differences in coaching for both individual and team sports, I have seen different coaching styles, and I understand what it is like to be an athlete. I am lucky to have had these experiences which have shaped me into the coach that I am today.

I would have to say that the biggest thing that gets in my way is the fear of failure. Throughout my involvement in athletics and CrossFit, I have had to accept that failure marks the point of growth. If you never fail, are you challenging yourself enough? If you're never challenged are you becoming the best version of yourself?
I still hate losing. But, through failure, I have become the athlete and the coach that I am today.

I coach because I love helping people achieve their goals, whether that be to just get in better shape, achieve their first pushup, or go to the CrossFit Games. I started CrossFit with ambitious dreams and was lucky enough to have great coaches who supported me. I want to be able to extend that to other people, whatever their fitness goals and dreams may be.
